The colleges that brought them this far...and may do the same for you
Lead singer, Bart Millard, from the band, Mercy Me is not only a great singer. Grand Canyon University is also going to be teaming up with him to create a groundbreaking, Worship Arts program. There isn't too much information on it but GCU puts it this way: "Millard, lead singer of Grammy nominated, American Music and Dove Award winning band MercyMe, said he was attracted to Grand Canyon's Center for Worship Arts because – unlike many programs that are performance-based and run out of a music college – GCU's combines both a ministry component and performance component and is based in its College of Theology." "Anyone can sing the message, but first you have to get the message right," said Millard. Enough said, right? Perhaps. I personally think it's pretty cool that theology is in-twined with the program. But then...GCU always HAS been a Christian college. ;) But GCU isn't the ONLY great college out there. I'm sure you've heard of the band Dc Talk? They're also known as Toby Mckeehan, Micheal Tait and Kevin Max. They did performances for the college at Liberty University and got credits for it in electives. They later created the band, Dc Talk, which became extremely popular in that era ('89-'99). They later broke up the band to go solo. Now, you probably know them from the band TobyMac, Newsboys and Audio Adrenaline. Which, actually, Kevin recently left Audio A, but that's a different story. The three have become increasingly popular over their solo time. And, if it hadn't been for Liberty, they may or may not even be CLOSE to where they are right now. Speaking of Liberty, guess who else met at Liberty?? That's riiiggghhtt! My boys, Anthem Lights. The band began when it was just Alan and Chad. God brought Kyle and Caleb met them, and after a lot of God working in their lives, they became... *drumroll* ANTHEM LIGHTS! There's more to it but, that's another story. ;) I wonder how many other people had neat college experiences. Maybe one of those people could be you... Duh duh duh.... ~KJ
